SCSC CruiseCommodore's Cup Race-CruiseDue to circumstances beyond the control of the club regarding the availability of convenience docks at the former Cabana Joe's the board has decided to change this years Commodores Cup to a race from Hudson to the Kinnickinnic Channel and back for both Saturday, September 24th and Sunday September 25th. The warning signal for both races is scheduled for 1100 hours. Because of the potentially high volume of boat traffic and resulting difficulty in placing a race mark, the Sailing Instructions have been updated to allow for the use of navigational marks as race marks (see below). At this time, the race committee is planning to use the slow no wake marker located on the Minnesota side of the Kinnickinnic channel as the far race mark. A final announcement regarding the far mark will be made prior to the warning signal for each race. Please note that this is a temporary change only and that both the race committee and board will consider a more permanent option for next years Commodores Cup. This race/cruise is open to all full members - no race fee required. Since the club will not be racing/cruising to Prescott this weekend; how about a mini-cruise in our own backyard! Go for a sail or race the modified Commodore’s Cup and then let’s raft-up north of the Hudson Bridge. We’ll have a get-together on the point at the marina after the race where the club will provide beverages and munchies. Feel free to bring an appetizer to share. Members can enjoy one of the fine establishments in Hudson for dinner or take-in the “Spirit of the St. Croix Art Festival”.
